It's probably a criticism of mindless of mindless violence.
 Mindless violence and Political violence, are two separate things
    Violence is usually said in referral to people fighting with each other.
Whilst bombing is a violent act, other words are usually used to describe it
(terrorism,carnage etc etc).
   So it is very much possible to be anti-violence, yet still want to be a
suicide bomber. Islam is in-fact a peaceful religion, yet still some of its
followers use violence .
     If a person  make a statement, then makes another statement later that
seems to contradict the first, this doesn't make the first statement
obsolete.
