-----That's funny. My thoughts within 5 minutes, after I read the news article
on Wired's site and then watch TV, was more revolving over the fact what
perfect reason USA would have to extend their power over the world and to
make way for war---

*interesting, i grew up near cheyenne mountain - where in the local mythology and many documentarys, /the cheyenne mountain's 007 like, futuristic mega fort, impenetrable security /provided the US with absolute safety from air strike and omniscient oversight of all goings on in american air space, military and otherwise. if something fishy happens, cheyenne should alert & dispatch airforce stationed in co. sprgs. and everywhere else like chicken on a junebug. my first thoughts after the second plane hit was, there is no way this omniscient US security could allow that to happen. those thoughts were followed closely by some very similar to mikael's above.
