Here Are Your Wedding Pictures - They Are BLACK!

John, John
Do Not Leave the Hotel!

So my walkman batteries slowly ran down on PJ Harvey
as deeply she sang, "Teclo you died" and ol'John Peel
played the part of Teclo in Peru.

It is quite likely that John Peel brought more
happiness to teenagers than any other old man in the
un-UK. He's going to have a very big funeral isn't he?

My recall of Peel, as I disturbed parents clicking a
noisy old pause button into the witching hour, is
often linked to that remarkable man whose head
expanded after he applied cut up technique literally
to brain. One of the first sessions I remember
recording was The Fall one with 'Gut of the
Quantifier' and 'Cruiser's Creek' which I still
consider to have one of the greatest riffs ever
conceived. I recall being intrigued by records by
bands with naughty names like Scraping Foetus Off The
Wheel and Alien Sex Fiend.

I went to events where Peel DJed twice. In Liverpool
with the Electro Hippies I requested Big Black and My
Bloody Valentine and he played 'The Model' and 'You
Made Me Realise.' He also DJed at the Triptych event
in Glasgow last April, where the mighty WIRE
headlined.

Of course we don't forget that the first Killing Joke
session was notorious for being the most requested
session for a repeat, even if Lamaque did. The first
time ever I heard PJ Harvey (Dress) and Pixies
(Caribou) was thanks to JPeel.

I hope they do not replace Peel with that immensely
irritating fashion victim MAHobbs or that fan of
useless fey indie crap Steve Lamaque. I was disgusted
to hear that ratty little hypocrite TBliar paying
tribute. Tuned in every night for a malicious boogie
didn't ya Tony?

This one is for Ken Bigley and all the good little
dead Christians whose blood is on Bliar's hands. It's
called 'Blind Man Blunkett Must Die!' by Spectre of
Rumsfeld.

Peel may be gone
but his vibrations linger on
rockin' Psychic Dancehall

It would be a nice way to commemorate him if Killing
Joke and PJ Harvey and The Fall could release albums
of all their Peel sessions.

Like PJ Harvey, he got better as he got older
