[KJ] OT: Shriekback

well, I'm glad there's a few here who are fans. Shriekback are 'the' band that crash landed me firmly in the world of alternative music at the age of 14 or something like that (and hence led me on to bands like KJ). love pretty much most of what they have done, and Care must be an all time classic (even more so when I found out it was written, recorded and mixed in 19 days).

favourite track is a live version of 'Newhome' from the live BBC recording that came with KJ on the other side (but sadly not included on the vinyl release)

Brian - I got a copy of Care on CD (and a lot of other unreleased Shriek stuff), drop me a line

Care is just one of the all time classics, and while on the subject if
anybody has a copy of Care on CD I would be most interested, it was released
in Australia on CD.

Favorite Shriekback track Hand On My Heart

Must check out Shriekback - Natural History (best of double CD)

I could think of at least 10 other bands who deserve even half of what U2
get.

The Chameleons. 'Strange Times' just never *happened* for them - it's my
favourite, so inevitably I'm biased ;)

I was only wondering the other day, what *is* it that makes a band
successful?? Mass appeal? Lowest Common Denominator music? But fashions
change & there has to be a core following, so there must be some *real*
appeal in there somewhere. Maybe.
