Neither the Bau, Siouxsie or Death Cult / The Cult are into the goth tag,
eventhough they all influenced goth massively at certain periods of their
respective outpourings. You can't beat the originals ;)

Not dissing goth though (as I have in the past :) - I'm a big fan of where
it all came from & love the Neph (but not much else). I'd much rather listen
to Bauhaus than the Sisters, so I prefer the darker stuff in general. IMO
late 70's / early 80's was an incredible time for 'alternative' music of all
sorts!

Since someone brought up "GOTH", I have to share this:

A few years ago while in a bookstore, I nabbed some music mag that talked
about their interview with the "Godfathers of Goth" Bauhaus. I instantly
cringed at the blurb, but skipped forward to read the interview.

Eventually, the question was asked: "what's it like being known as the
Godfathers of Goth, Peter?" To this, Peter Murphy responded something to the
effect of how they laughed about that idea. They never set out to creat a
"Goth Movement" and they don't consider themselves a part of it.

Maybe someone has read/seen something to the contrary, but Murphy went up
a few more notches in my book that day.
