Yer missing something here -- *in some interpretations*.

It's just like everything else: either people who believe
themselves to be part of a cohesive group sit there and
attack all those who are not "like" them, or they infight
and try to excommunicate those who don't "believe" or
"belong." It'd be nice to have a religious preference
of tolerance, but two of the biggies, Christianity and
Islam, are not exactly tolerant. Buddhism, as you mention,
generally IS. Of course, it's doubtless that some Buddhists
are intolerant, but the religion doesn't seem to *encourage* it.

Very few people of *any* intelligence are unaware that
proselytising of any sort is highly resented, especially
when it comes to religion. Your point is taken, and in
fact, is why I have said that trying to convince someone
of something of this nature in a forum with diverse
membership is not going to work. I guess I should
add "and will piss some people off."

My *only* real reason for speaking was to give my
interpretation of Alex' original message and to say
that his followups seem to be more specific to the
musical genre and not the entire group of religious
followers.

But hell, as I say, if it helps to vent about a pet
hate, feel free.....
