Golden State Warriors チアーダンサー富田早苗さん

来る9月7日(木)、Silicon Valley Japanese Entrepreneur Network (SVJEN)と
日本貿易振興機構(JETRO)では、現在アメリカのプロバスケットボール、
NBA Golden State Warriorsのダンスチーム、Warrior Girlsに所属している
富田早苗さんをお招きして、NBAのチアーダンサーという狭き門をくぐり、
本年度で5期連続でWarriors Girlを務める快挙を成し遂げた苦労や今までの
努力、経験をお話し頂くセミナーを開催することになりました。

スピーカーの富田早苗氏の経歴は、以下の通り。
京都生まれ。国際基督教大学で社会学を専攻、在学中にUCLAで1年間留学
1998-1999年:川崎市のReebok Japan Inc.でプロダクションアシスタント
1999-2000年:NBA Japanでイベントアシスタントを務める。
2000-2001年:FIFA Sports Marketing Japanでevent operation assistant
2002年-:5年連続Golden State Warriorsでダンスチームを務める
バークレー在住。

第15回 「雇用法と人事：新興成長企業の課題
（"Employment Law and HR: Key Issues for Emerging Growth Companies"）

SVJENラウンドテーブルは毎回テーマを決め、そのテーマを中心とした討論会
を通じて起業家同士の交流を深めると同時に、各種情報交換により若手起業家
や起業を志望している方々への支援をしていこう、という主旨で計画されてお
ります。様々なご経験や専門知識をお持ちの皆様との交流を通じ、より多くの
日本人起業家を輩出できるような支援とネットワーク作りをしていきたいと考
えております。

今回のテーマは雇用法と人事：新興成長企業の課題("Employment Law and HR:
Key Issues for Emerging Growth Companies")です。
スピーカーは、カークパトリック＆ロックハート法律事務所の
リンダ・L ウソフ弁護士及び、人事コンサルティングを行う
ミラー コレア＆アソシエイツ社のプリンシパル、トレイシー・ミラー氏です。
シリコン・バレーの雇用状況も2、3年前と変わり、活発になってきました。
このような状況の中、社員の雇用・解雇・労働条件等の人事面での課題にどの
様に対処すべきなのか、専門家に話を聞くチャンスです。

In the fast-paced business environment of Silicon Valley, emerging growth
companies and their managers must contend with a multitude of employment and
human resource issues on a daily basis.
These issues may relate to sexual harassment and discrimination, wage and
hour (overtime) compliance, personnel discipline and termination decisions,
employment policies, privacy and protection of intellectual property and
trade secrets. Often experiencing rapid growth without experienced
professionals and personnel policies available to them, these companies and
managers face unique challenges, especially when cross-cultural and
multi-ethnic factors also come into play. To successfully navigate these
hurdles, it becomes critical for key company employees to gain a basic
understanding of the relevant issues. Our speakers today bring years of
experience working with companies to address these key topics.
Following a brief presentation by the speakers on "hot topics", an
interactive Q&A format will be used for the remainder of the discussion.

involving wage and hour violations, discrimination, wrongful termination,

employee handbooks, employee and manager training, reductions in force,
investigations of employee wrongdoing, employment contracts, hiring and

Ms. Miller has over 15 years of senior management experience in both
start-up and multi-billion dollar corporations in Canada and the United

Ms. Miller’s clients include a wide range of pre-IPO and emerging-growth
high tech companies, including Japanese companies in the Silicon Valley.
