More on the strange phenomenon of "The Hum" in the Feb 10, 2022 Financial
Times:

"Halifax is just the most recent incidence of an as-yet unexplained
phenomenon in which a group of people in one place will start hearing what
has come to be known as 'the Hum,' a low droning sound with no discernible
source. The earliest reliable reports of this came from Bristol in the
1970s."
