This is Chris from Detroit. We meet up.....I don’t even know how long ago in Boston.
It’s pretty much the same here as far as covid. The actual metro-Detroit area is leveling or improving while the rest of the red-neck hicks of the state are starting to go up.
As far as Wednesday it’s hard to say how it altered MI. I haven’t been outside of tri-county area. I’ve heard/read of adamant supporters are starting to take down their flags/etc. with that being said I’m sure those that are “patriots” are just further right in their pea-sized minds.
I’ll find out next weekend for sure as family is driving 5 hours north. Seems like all of the assholes that live in this state go out of state to act foolish/selfish.
And I personally cut out or off those that were even remotely straddling the line.
As far as family 7 year old is doing really good with school but it is wearing her down not being able to directly play with friends. Partner/wife has a fairly hands-on and face-to-face position at a university and she has far more anxiety over it in general. She’s (and the university) have been relatively successful working with this and she is able to do a lot of her stuff from home now. I could work from home before this but my work is having its most successful year ever as a direct result of Covid. So I’m working long hours.
I worry for what may happen between now and inauguration. I used to be confident in saying that “the south will NOT rise again”. I hope I don’t eat my words.

Here in London Covid is also rampant - we're probably the UK hotspot at the moment.  Some grim shit going on, and only likely to get worse in the near term.

Politically we're also in a bit of a mess... Brexit is probably small beer in the US, but it's a big deal here, and we have our very own narcissist in charge.

My bright musical spark of the year was discovering the Interrupters, courtesy of their cover of Joe Strummer's Get Down Moses.  Doubtless you're familiar with them...

Is this Chris (I think that's right)? It's ok here but Covid is raging. I teach in a mostly Latino school and we've been remote all year. We have no tolerance for Trump and that stuff--he's deported students' parents! I've also bought some good cd's this year like Cabaret Voltaire, A Certain Ratio, X, and Bob Mould and was going to shows until the pandemic. How about you?
