*Jaz Coleman newsletter #2*
*Notes from Central America: September 2020*

I am just finishing the end of a lit Upmann 45 before lighting up a Cohiba
Single 6. My coloured lights are on in the garden; I have a fluorescent
orange soda in a glass with ice. The full moon approaches and I am about to
enjoy my monthly lunar blog to you all from beautiful Mexico where I have
made my home. In this blog, I intend to cover street food, The Gathering
and Sorcery!

I suppose I’ll start with the street food. 10 minutes ago I heard the
whistle of the fried banana man who wheeled his portable oven towards our
house after I shouted to him from the balcony. The bananas are chargrilled
and have a wonderful caramelised taste served with condensed milk.
As everyone knows, I never take action before consulting Angela, KJ’s
astrologer. I’m not leaving this country until the global situation
improves – which it will on 21st December.

Between now and then anything could happen on the global stage. Of
particular concern is Belarus, which if NATO expands to the Russian border
could result in a cold war suddenly going hot. Russian ICBM’s are in
Belarus. Not that anyone would be stupid enough to turn the key, plunging
the world into darkness and a new ice age. No, my sources tell me that it
is likely to be a ‘complex systems failure’ in which artificial
intelligence tragically misconstrues enemy activity.

Anyway, I’d just like to say how great is The Gathering! For example, I
happen to know that British Special Forces are in Yemen with our
head-chopping allies, the Saudis, committing atrocities together through a
Gatherer whose son is unfortunately serving time there.

On a more positive note, it was my mum's 89th birthday on August 26th. And
you know I owe my innovative mum a lot. She put up with Brian Jones of the
Stones trashing the house, Killing Joke doing those things that teenagers
do, Hells Angels, dealers, drug busts etc. So when I discovered that my
mum's birthday cake was made and delivered by someone who knows of KJ –
well, I was made up. Thank you Dee @ Sweetdees.co.uk

Thank god no one ever found out the things I did that I was never caught
for – like breaking into chemists and stuff. Here’s a picture of mum on
holiday in 1963.
But look, I want to talk about M M C (Mexico, Magic and Coincidences)
in-between street food and my cigar!

My grandpa sired a family here in Mexico; well they are out there
somewhere. (A Miss Pan Am contacted the family in the seventies asking to
use the name Pandy, with a covering story but I don’t think mum replied. Ha
ha!) All of this kind of leads to my sense of being Indian. Maybe it’s the
passing of years, but I read the Bhagavad Gita, I wear Indian clothes and
am applying for my 'Person of Indian Origin' status. Well, if it walks like
a duck, looks like a duck it’s a fuckin' duck.

And you know part of me would love to see Scottish Independence just to see
England reduced to a tiny country – ha ha!

Anyway, what’s all this about Jamaican patties? Well, one of the
inspirations for it actually came from here in central Mexico – in Real Del
Monte. This town was actually settled by a Cornish contingent of Oliver
Cromwell’s supporters, which is why everywhere you go, you can buy Cornish
Pasties. And even the exotic Jamaican Pattie owes its origins to Cornwall.
Now wait til you horrible lot try my Old Jamaican Pie – with my new hot
sauce made with pomegranate – ha ha ha! You’ll forget all about the music.
Real Del Monte has also hosted two other famous Brits who died as Mexicans.
The first is Richard Bell who became the most famous clown in all Mexico
(who was born in London) and the second being Leonora Cartwright, a
little-known member of the surrealist movement, who was an occultist.
OK, I shall digress a moment. For all those interested in why world leaders
and politicians used to kiss David Rockefellers’ posterior and now Bill
Gates – can be found in the elusive work of G. Magaldi, *The Discovery of
the Ur Lodges*.

This week I went to the local market and noticed queues of people standing
outside certain shops that sold herbs, candles and amulets. The people are
lining up to see sorcerers and the longer the queue, the better the
sorcerer apparently. Since my stay in Mexico I have seen this type of magic
work effectively, which kind of reminds me of the *Extremities* recording.
During that period, we were based in the US. I used to go to the Museum of
Modern Art (MOMA) to view David Alfaro Siqueiros' *Echo of a Scream*.
Here is a photo of Siqueiros and his good friend Rodolfo, a journalist who
worked for the newspaper *Excelsior*.
Well, this journalist friend of Siqueiros is the grandfather of a Mexican
expressionist and author who is well known to me.

Anyway, part two of this peculiar story will be in my next newsletter.
However, before I go, I draw your attention to the little blob above the J
(for Joker) on *Extremities* cover. If you magnify it you will see the
child’s head from Siqueiros’ *Echo of a Scream*.
