[kj] RIP Mark E Smith of The Fall

In the mid 60s me and the then to be missus were house hunting. We looked
at one in Prestwich north Manchester. They guy was showing us around the
house asked 2do you like the fall?". Strange question I thought but as it
happens I do a lot I told him. Well "Mark E Smith will be your neighbour"
he replied. I think from that point he thought he had a sale on his hands.
Errr no thanks, can you imagine he'd be rearranging my garden gnomes and
the washing on the clothes line all the time.

Once in Piccadilly records in Manchester on a quiet afternoon I was
perusing the LPs and was looking at Fall records. All of a sudden I felt
somebody just to the right of me very close. I glanced round and it was the
man himself eagerly waiting, I think, to see if I took the record to the
counter. He just stared at me for a few seconds. I didn't say a word, I
daren't. I put the record back and scarpered quick style.

Nob a lot of the time genius all the time. RIP Mark E Smith.
