[kj] Fire Dances

Totally agree, David.  I’ve always associated the two
I think the dangerous playfulness of the lyrics (as well as the maniacal squeals, screams and laughter of Jaz) blend perfectly with the melodic scariness of the music to form a brilliant representation of humanity as an out of control pack of juvenile beasts with too much energy - unleashed and unwatched on an unsuspecting world.  Playing with power the way a child would play with fire. A child of folly!
And Geordie’s tone is so sublime on that album....
And Paul’s rhythms, like a fun explosion..
Fire Dances is an absolute masterpiece.
Lord of the Flies is a damn good read as well.

Ostensibly you haven’t read Lord of the Flies.

All will be revealed once you do.

Been listening to this album tonight and have such a love/hate relationship with it. The first album post-Jaz Iceland meltdown and the first new songs without Youth. Some great riffs by Geordie and great drumming by Paul, but the lyrics and song titles leave me flat and seem juvenile. Fun and Games? Song and Dance? Let's All Go to the Fire Dances?? Who were they trying to appeal to with this album? Lust Almighty gets the award for best tune with worst lyrics. Still looking forward to seeing them in SF in Sept...
