That is a very cynical viewpoint of E'G ;), no such tactics "Take Take Take" was
part of their repertoire circa 1982, a quick look on setlist.fm confirms that.

The latter half of 1982 with a few gigs in the US and Canada then back to the UK
shows them including a few songs from 'Fire Dances' recorded in February-March
1983.

I can assume that with the newly assigned Raven on bass they were in the process
of writing and trying out songs for the forthcoming album, "Take Take Take" is
one that hit the cutting room floor. Seeing that "Ha" was rushed out in
November 1982 and as you say the recording machine broke if anything is cynical
it is E'G cashing in on what few tracks they had.

I have always noticed very much a similarity in tone but amended chord
progression and tempo between the guitar riff of "Good Samaritan" and "Take Take
Take".

Maybe "Take Take Take" was considered alongside "Sun Goes Down" as a B Side for
"Birds Of A Feather", who knows, although a studio version does not look likely,
I am sure with remasters etc we would have heard it by now.

This is a setlist from Glasgow on 26th October 1982, same setlist on 27th
October 1982 in Manchester.
