I didn't know about that!
Thanks for the question Antony and the answer my southern namesake.

Back in the early 90's, after Extremities etc, KJ seemed to have gone their separate ways & Jaz gave a couple of talks in Ladbroke Grove. (Basically the same talk on two evenings, I think.) Anyway, aside from feeding us some amazing Lebanese food, and getting a top violinist to play for us, and playing some of his classical stuff on the piano, and of course talking a whole load of Jaz-style lunacy, he also played us a brief bit of music from his new band G7. (At that point, G7 was what G8 is now, i.e. the Group of 7 biggest economies in the world.)
Can't remember who else was in G7 - the drummer from the Mish, I think? Anyway, to my young ears, it sounded pretty damn good.
Unfortunately someone made off with the tape, and nothing has been heard since. I'd love to hear it, not least to see whether it's as good now as it seemed at the time.
Plenty of other Gatherers were there, on one or t'tother night, or both... how do people remember G7?

Some of it sounds amazing (Songs from the Victorious City, anyway) but an awful lot of it sounds like dross. Quite expensive dross, as well...
Now, if he was promising to dig out the G7 tape and dish up some top-notch Lebanese food, I'd be there like a shot.
