Yes I understand that...

And there is a model that shows that small and medium sized sustainable and pastured farms could feed the world-
it's not that conventional is technically necessary

But to get it to that, is another story..

I live in Washington, D.C. Area -and with my media I have helped and covered Joel salitin and Weston a price foundation -- so basically farmimg and agriculture nerds, and not the survivalist sorts who say their food pisses all over yours .. I know what you mean..

I read years ago Jaz saying something about everyone dig a pond and stock it with Trout , and a garden...

And guns and a couple of pitbulls could possibly help keep the crazys away for at least a couple weeks, if it all went down ;-)

Certainly this and your previous post do raise some interesting points, as compared to "in a Bear Grylls-type survival situation, my diet would win" (a real quote! though perhaps you don't know who Bear Grylls is... in which case, lucky you!). ButI feel I'm dealing with the reality of meat-eating, what 99.9% of meat-eaters in this country are part of, not the general theory.

Having just read through it though, one thing that seems to have been missed is much mention of the horrific cruelty to animals involved in meat consumption. Is it really "just up to individual choice" to cause (directly or indirectly, with variation in the degrees) such cruelty? Can I treat my cute little puppy (sometimes really) badly for a few months then kill it because, well, I enjoy doing that?
>>> Anyway, just throwing in some sleep-deprived thoughts... arguing with meat-eaters is pretty much as futile a passtime as there is... worse than waiting on Gems Of Power, even... PLUS, I see my download of a certain band's new album has just finished! To hell wit
