Yeah, I saw this. I would pretty much agree that punk is largely dead, but not necessarily for the reasons he cites. And while I wouldn’t necessarily equate it with punk rock, the Occupy movement is still more or less alive and well, as far as protests in the street are concerned.

But punk wasn’t killed by dopamine levels and chem-trails, …. it was co-opted, defanged, housebroken and subsumed by mainstream culture decades ago. Are there still punk bands with something to say? Sure, but in terms of it being a fresh, meaningful and potent means of expression, I’d suggest that it’s no longer that much of a viable threat.
