Oh bollocks - are they replacing it with anything?
I'm on my second Ipod classic at the moment?

A curse and a pox on apple and their greedy, grubby, money grabbing ways

Pete

With no prior warning, Apple discontinued their 160GB iPod Classic last week
(the same day they rolled out their new junk). The iPod Classic basically
replaced the need for me to drag around a bunch of CDs in my car or even
more hassle, burn CD-R "compilations." Although I was kind of late jumping
on the Apple/iPod bandwagon, once I got a car stereo with a USB connection
around '05 or '06 and my original 80GB iPod, that really changed how I
listened to music. I got back into having a portable player wherever I went
like the old Walkman days and making giant 3+ hour long playlists and having
literally weeks' worth of (uncompressed CD quality) music in my pocket or
car reinvigorated my interest in a *lot* of bands. A big bonus was and is
the fact the USB cable keeps the iPod battery charged. When Apple offered
the 160GB, it was so great to have all that storage space for lossless
music.

Apparently a couple days ago when it was discontinued, Apple demanded that
all retailers box up existing stock of iPod Classics and send them back to
Apple. They are literally gone from 99% of all retailers by this weekend.
The resale price on places like eBay and Amazon resellers especially for
new, unused Classics instantly shot through the roof. I look forward to
finding another non-Apple solution to listen to music so I can shitcan
fucking iTunes as well.

T.B.
