Yep, votes in general elections are not exactly comparable with votes in Euro, local, etc. But it was a pretty extraordinary result...

I think that the 3 so called 'main' political parties should hang their heads in shame at the fact that they've disenchanted such a significant part of the electorate in this country to such an extent that UKIP managed to gain such a foothold.

Having said that, I think (hope?) that if it had been a general election, the results might have been a bit different

I'd that if I sat down in a pub with Farage I would disagree with him on everything, and I can see no plausible scenario in which I would vote UKIP.

That said, I struggle to vote for any party, and am deeply disenchanted with the main ones. I suspect that a lot of people feel the same, and that some (many?) of them will vote UKIP.

Simply put!

UKIP are scum.

Thinly veiled Nazi pricks full of hate and devoid of ideas.

They have no policies other than anti Immigration and anti EU. Ask them about their healthcare, education, fiscal, infrastructure policies and they say that they are working on them and will have some in time for the next elections.

And people voted for them.

Thankfully they pose little threat at national level as they will not replace the big three parties. None of which are perfect but all are a huge improvement on Farage and his pond life.

With the UK Independence Party winning the European Elections in Britain, and their leader, Nigel Farage's racial slurs against Romanian and Bulgarian immigrants, what are other Gatherers thoughts about UKIP?
