[kj] Hebden Bridge

MINOG was great - an elongated intro by a grinning Youth holding that G for ages, clearly both milking & loving it.
I must say Youth seemed to be having a whale of a time- tbh, they all did, relaxed & having fun despite technical hitches.
My other fave ‘elongated intro’ was Youth repeatedly ‘ow ow owwwing’ at the start of Psssyche which, with each howl, failed to start to the point he started to take the piss with it.
Great comedy :)
The Beautiful Dead was good, but I STILL cringe at (& hate) that quick-step speeded up middle. I still maintain the flexi-disc version is better.
While really good to hear the older stuff, it was a shame not to hear much of the more recent albums.
Personally, I was secretly hoping for In Cythera and LLB (and must confess to every time I’ve seen KJ I've always crossed my fingers for Adoration although I know that'll never happen.)
Still it was pounding & hypnotic and without doubt, one of the best, albeit strangest Joke gigs I’ve been to & great to finally see the original line up.
When you consider these guys are in their 50’s (as many of us are or are approaching) it was doubly superb.
I went with the singer of my band who’d never seen them before or indeed heard of them until I introduced him.
He was dumbstruck by the power of it & totally slack-jawed at Geordie. Couldn’t believe this monstrous sound out of one man gently tickling a guitar.
An evening to cherish!
