Vocalist was paul Roberts. He was a prick. Guitarist was Jon Ellis. Tried to make them a blues band. Was glad when he was sacked!

I'll miss Jet and Hugh, of course, but just to hear JJ Burnell's bass in a live context will be worth it, I think.

>> Saw the Stranglers last weekend and excellent as ever. Jet is doing half the show on the UK tour , came on for a wonderful version of Genetix, also did Who Wants the World and Thrown Away so I was very happy – my only other wish would be Shah Shah a Go Go. Personally I like Baz, better guitarist for me and good singer and nice guy plus he was in the Toy Dolls. Giants is brilliant and one of their best since Feline and I liked their later Hugh albums even 10. Just stopped liking them when that pillock Ellis took over singing duties. Agree with Alex got better again from Norfolk Coast.

>> Thing about Stranglers is they did the early stuff and they will always do it live so anything they do after that you learn to appreciate, bit like Sandinista etc.

>> After Hugh left they made some very patchy albums. I over rated them at the time. Hindsight has taught me a lesson! Norfolk coast and suite XVI, are worth listing. These preceded giants which is a midget of an album.

>> Hugh Cornwell has produced some excellent work in his last two albums and I would rather see him that the Stranglers these days. And yes, no Jet Black as he is rather frail these days. But does a bit here and there.
