[kj] KJ 2003 - 2013

[Frenchy Frenzy]

Subscribed at the Gathering during 2002 I think ( I spent 55 days away from
work including Christmas cause to a knee surgery anterior cruciate ligament
) and spent hours reading messages. 

 

I remember listening again and again and again to the new track "leaked" ( a
long tradition...) : Implant

Will always remember my first Gathering at The Underworld and had my first
meeting with the band : 14 August 2003

 

21 sept : first gig filmed in Geneva thank to Raven who did everything : i
drove back to Lyon as if I was "riding on a cloud"

1 week after I got my Tinnitus after their gig at the Elysee Montmartre ....

 

Too many memories during 10 years, including 

drinking champagne with Geordie at home, 

Raven's funeral and the historic moment of the reunion with BPF, 

fantastic gigs over Europe ( Venice, Prague, HellFest etc..) 

wonderful recording sessions in Wandsworth, 

incredible rehearsals in Putney, 

visiting the unforgettable El Mirador Youth's studios, 

listening to new albums in private sessions with Jaz and discovering
European Superstate & In Cythera for the 1st time , 

bringing Jaz to my personal doctor and pharmacy where we bought Viagra ha ha
ha, 

seeing my name credited on the official DVD XXV Gathering, 

receiving a postal card from Raven with nice words,

meeting great Gatherers and spending hours laughing with my "non driver
assistant" Jon ;o)))

Wonderful cheeses party in my home town in our local shop with Youth Geordie
BPF & Reza,

extra moments with the band in Sardegna with local promoters etc....

 

I hope the list of great moments will last some more years as long as they
can keep so high the quality of their vicious and unique music

Good god, is it really a decade since Killing Joke ended that interminably
long and tedious near-retirement in the latter part of the 20th century,
until out of nowhere they finally breathed life into the Gathering again and
the universe with the release of Loose Cannon followed by KJ 2003?
 
Ten whole years, cor blimey, where did that go! It feels to me as though
they are still only at the beginning of their resuscitation, but in fact
we've had 4 albums, several tours, a big re-union, almost a spoken-word
album (it's the thought that counts), at least one lecture - AND it appears
there's still a bit more fruit to shake off the tree this year with more
music, a book and allegedly a film.
 
By Killing Joke's standards the past decade has been a maelstrom of
activity.
 
Of course, Raven's death must also factor into this period, unfortunately. 
 
But it's still amazing to see the original band back together.
 
Long may the magick continue!
