[kj] Record Store Day has become a joke

Me, too.

Honestly, the question of "US" and "UK" album releases these days is pretty moot for anyone with a credit card or a PayPal account.

I get all my KJ stuff through either What Records UK (for the special releases and singles) and Amazon UK (for everything else). Never had any issues in 10+ years of on-line buying; shipping is usually well under one week and cost is usually comparable to buying it retail in a US store.

The UK versions of "Absolute Dissent" and "MMXII" both cost about $16 each, inc. shipping to the US.

But I live in the US where their last 2 albums have been almost nonexistent. I had to order 2012 online

Both are available on previously released singles: "Penny Drops" on "In Cythera" and "New Uprising" on "Corporate Elect."

What would have been nice is to include one or two of the tracks that they have apparently now dropped from the rarities disc on the Singles set, like the new mix of "Intellect" or the extended track of Jaz and Geordie babbling incoherently for 12 minutes.

I was really looking forward to that one. Add some finger cymbals and they could release it as "Courtauld Talks II," along with some of Jaz's old ketchup packets from Wimpy's. Prolly get 500 bucks for it, at least.

What about those 2 unreleased tracks from 2012? Penny Drops and the other (better) one? That would have been great!

Sadly, our favourite band dropped a bollock with this one. The whole point of record store day is to get people
into their local independent record shops. Which is why 99% of bands doing releases for RSD make sure it is
something special - unreleased, long unavailable, new songs on a 7" etc etc. But not our boys, oh no.
Just a cd single with three songs previously available. Even if you don't have any unreleased tracks, at least
make an effort - coloured vinyl 12", stick in a poster of Colesy's art, then the completist in me would

have gone for it. As it was, it was a pathetic effort! Doh, etc.

Thing is, it actually COST £10 on the day!
