  I
  was an ODIC member < http://home.clara.net/antoni/odic017.jpg >
but for whatever reasons I never went to the Courtauld Institute (1987) or
Holland Park (1992) though I did go to the ODIC party at the Porchester Hall
in December 1988 & bought the Courtauld talks album when it came out
on Invisible. By the time Jaz did another talk at the Columbia Hotel (1995)
I’d seen the error of my ways & put in an overdue appearance.

  I
believe this list was started by a US alternative DJ (Michael J Salo) in 1996
  – when I finally entered the web age in 1998, I stumbled upon it and 14 years
later I’m still here. It was amazing to find souls here who were more obsessed
with KJ than I was ... within a year we’d had the first of several
“gatherings” in London – we also had The Damage Manual gigs & then Colesy
re-launched Malicious Damage with t-shirts to replace our shrunken and moth
eaten classics plus many gigs. Like all families, we’ve had the odd spat on
here but otherwise it’s been an absolute pleasure and I intend to hang around
these parts as long as I’m still breathing.

  I
doubt many of us during the post Democracy hiatus would ever have envisaged
that KJ would have released 4 more (and counting) mighty studio albums (I tend
not to analyse or criticise, I’m just grateful for their mere existence)
although the past decade itself has been equally chaotic with Raven leaving
the band prior to his tragic & untimely passing. Now here we all are, in
2012, with Killing Joke playing (like many other reformed acts) with the
original line-up but standing apart from most others by being something a lot
more than just on a nostalgia trip. KJ sounding more relevant than ever.
Yes, Robert, in that other thread you said that after KJ at the Cult/Mish/Joke
bash at the Apollo we’ll probably all go back down the pub, but after shelling
out £42.50 (incl fee) I’ll probably be looking to get my money’s worth ...
plus heckling can be fun :o)

  Regards,
  Antoni

    I first heard of KJ's
O.D.I.C. - The Order of the Distant Island Charter 'fan club' on the early
90s 'Extremities' UK tour, when I picked up a leaflet at the London Astoria
concert. I wrote off and received info. I regret not having joined up at the
time, as membership would have given me the golden opportunity to hear Jaz's
lectures. Was anyone here a member or attended Jaz's meetings?
