I remember seeing Crown of Thorns supporting Hawkwind at Hammersmith Palais back in 1983 - suffice to say they didn't get an easy time!!

4. Red Lorry Yellow Lorry
5. The Crack were pretty good
6. Crown of Thorns were watchable

I still like Danse Society but cannot believe they have reformed – not sure if that is going to work.

Bow Wow Wow are touring too – could be interesting.

No one really opens for KJ and survives, but some other notably questionable choices were Aztec Camera and Doctor & the Medics.

Then, of course, Killing Joke opened to Motley Cure not too, too long ago, so let's all be kind.

And I thought Stabbing Westward in the states were painful.

I believe there are some Skunk defenders on this list but i thought they were just an image in search of songs. Shootyz Groove were purveyors of interminable sub-Chili Peppers white boy funk that gave me frequent dry heaves.

Q: Who puts a seemingly disparate bill like this together?

A: The label
