[kj] OT OT - HOUSTON DEAD

Man, hands down Elizibeth Frasier, Souxie, Lisa Gerard could sing! I'm not
by any means a fan of Whitney, too bad though. I'm not going to complain
about what kind of an artist she was, but I've heard worst stuff, her stuff
is much better than having to listen to gangsta crap, butt Rock, Metalicka,
Motley dork, or top 40 crap... in High School. Yeah, most American music
crap, made me choose UK and Canadian stuff.

But, in comparison, I would pick Elizibeth Frasier in a heart beat.

""My sentiments exactly, Alex. When Whitney Houston was releasing her music,
I already had?my Siouxsie and the Banshees, my Dead Can Dance, my Xmal
Deutschland, my Cocteau Twins on heavy rotation,?and?no one could change my
music preferences and my love?of different female vocalists in the mid 80's
already.?
??
I only feel very bad for the teenage daughter Whitney Houston is leaving
behind. All the rest the media is going to stream?will be the?crocodile
tears and this tragedy will yield big business,?as it is usually the
case?when a mainstream star dies.""

This is from the KJ official facebook (yes, I'm on FB - bite me):

Oh, and in other news... Youth has been working with Sheffield's Reverend
And The Makers <http://www.facebook.com/ReverendAndTheMakers> on their new
record, from which you can hear and download the first track, 'Bassline',
over on their profile now. Suitably menacing I'm sure you agree.

Carry on.

+++++++++++++++

First album - post-punk. Everything after that, plain ol' rawk, power pop
to adolt contemporary.

I saw them early on the second album tour in mid '81 with the original
lineup - great show. Saw them again in '83 at the US Festival after the
guitarist and bass player had died and been replaced, decent. Saw them
again supporting U2 in late '87 - boring as fuck. Saw them again at the
Wiltern around 2008-ish when they filmed their live dvd, again boring as
fuck.

So, what's the plan on that- are they going to grind him up and give
everyone a snort?
Or are they going to just place him back in the Danish peat bog where they
originally excavated him from?

Amusing to think that despite her musical shitness, from all accounts
Whitney could quite possibly have drunk, smoked and snorted all of us under
the table, before breakfast.

Kelly Clarkson, Keri Hilson, Gaga, Phoenix, M83, And One, Dusty Springfield,
Head Shop Girls, among tre' so many others it's hard for me to say now where
the guilt begins. Or the shame.

Maybe we should have a "guilty pleasures" thread.

My two cents:? Houston had a great voice, but how she chose to use it left a
lot to be desired.?

Same with Van Halen as instrumentalists.
