He's not the only guitarist to like EVH. Guitar Techniques magazine did big features on both John Frusciante and Dave Navarro only a couple of issues apart, and the results were surprisingly similar: both of them love Jimmy Page and British post-punk bands, including the Cure, Joy Division and Killing Joke, while JF also mentioned Siouxsie and DN mentioned Cocteau Twins & Bauhaus. Aside from those, they both love the first 4 VH albums.
 
Off the path a bit there, but what the hell.

Yes, listening to this I can see why Geordie likes them (but man, do I hate these vocals--both the melody and the actual singing).
