Well, I personally, olde chaps, think the Ministry album is a rollicking good listen, of course gets better with each play. Good & extreme but lightens up later & also like 99 Percenters & Bloodlust as stated before. I think anyone who likes garbage like Van Halen is bound to disagree. As for all these eighties bands coming out of their coffins, I hope it will be to build on their mainly fine history & not just to try to recreate their youth because they have found the world is not quite so fun anymore & is more disturbed than they thought then.

Well, heard the KJ LP now & am awaiting the single. Despite intense pain in my tooth at times I had a fairly enjoyable experience, although I have to say that the second listen has not improved matters just reinforced fears & doubts. Why are they regurgitaing old musical themes, to begin with, it is a very-Fall like thing to do & even Cure & Beefheart have done it in past but just ruins enjoyment of tracks like Pssyche & Intravenous. Move on!! I hope it does not mean lack of ideas.

Not convinced by either Pole Shift or Fema Camp, the former though did have quite interesting darkwave/gothic sounding electronics whilst in latter I enjoyed robotic vocals.. LP really started with Rapture, really like this track now especially after live version, & not that similar to Exorcism really. Colony Collapse excellent especially for gtr & drumming, Corporate Elect for driving rhythm & eighties gtr sound. Likewise In Cythera is pretty much well loved by me as well, its melancholia obviously bringing to mind when I first got into them in 1985. Despite its similarities to Intravenous, like the extremity of Glitch, excellent rhythm again, Youth/Big Paul have done well on this LP!! And finally All Hallows Eve, which in its stompiness very much reminds me of my own efforts with my keyboard in the past, as also the intro to Raven King did in 2010. They're ripping me off!! Liked the church type vocals on this, I think Jazs chorister background is emerging on this & the previous Trance!!

So which ones am I not so keen on. Apart from aforementioned first 2, which will probably be convinced of eventually, not Trance really. As said the closeness to Pssyche takes away all the edge: so which lyrics are they going to do live now, or will they do super-segue?!! Worse track by far is Primobile, with its Gary Numan intro, dominant kbds, sounds like it belongs on BTATS. As was never big fan of that period not for me. It was why Extremities was so amazingly wonderful, that they could do something like that after the late eighties. But of its time & personnel involved & I doubt if we will ever hear anything like that again.

So, MMXII def not as good as AD, (at present) but very good in parts. Not even as immediate as Democracy, but then again, for me that was a different period & I had heard a lot less music. I expect will only improve with time & in live versions hopefully, have bit of Hosannas feeling about it at present really. Think I had bad tooth round then as well, strangely.

The Fungus Moth.

To clarify a bit, I meant this in the following ways:

1. Pandy and AD are both (to my ears) more musically varied, whereas Demo
and 2012 sound more thematic and cohesive. I'm not pointing to one way as
being better than the other, just an observation.

2. Pandy and AD seem to sound "happier" whereas Demo and 2012 sound more
subdued/morose. This pattern also appeared on 2003 and Hosannas. (BTW,
everything I've said so far has been said already by other IIRC -- I don't
mean to come across as though I'm the first to throw out these ideas or
observations.)

3. I was also initially disappointed by Demo (and am a huge fan of Pandy,
save for Jana and Pleasures), but I do enjoy it (again, save for a few
tracks) and I think there's a classic KJ CD lurking within the marred
production. To me, 2012 is what Demo could have been if it had come closer
to realizing its potential (better production, a few less filler tracks).

I'd hate to think I'd dissuade anyone from checking out 2012 with my
comparison, as I'm really enjoying it ... it's not Demo Part II, it's what
Demo should have been.

> One of the few things that could have stopped me from purchasing MMXII would have been people referring to it as "the Democracy to AD's Pandemonium." If it had been like that, I would have been very unhappy. Hearing the flat, lifeless Democracy after the brilliance of its predecessor was one of the great musical disappointments of my life, and not one I'd like to repeat.

I think I'm echoing someone else's posting when I say that this release feels like the Democracy to AD's Pandemonium, except better.

Marilyn Manson has a new album out end of this month , could be fairly average at best but hopefully an improvement over the last Two albums. The Cult's new one Weapon of Choice out next month have hopes for this being a pretty solid effort.Ultravox have their first new album out with the classic 80's line up for about 25 years next month as well. Keen to hear what this will be like.
