ha- I think it just depends on ones frame of reference--
It made me think of that time period here in the states-
I just remember how that song (and others that followed) changed the
landscape.
I was 11-12 at the time and remember showing up to play a basketball game
and see this one team in matching track suits (which the coach bought out
of his own $) and a big boombox in the middle of the court warming up to
Rappers Delight (the style of the track suits (shiny/tacky) being influenced
by the song)- but the kicker being half the team was white country kids.
Was such a scene- So hearing KJ do that just reminded me how people got
so caught up into it at the time. I didn't nec mean "awesome" like that
really was/sounded awesome, they should have done it live.

My best friend at the time was black and lived in a small house with his
older cousins- they were totally in on funk, disco, soul, rap and (D.C.) Go
Go and it was going there all the time - and I loved it all- not in a
white kid wanting to be black sort of way, but I just liked it all as much as I
do now.
So when rappers delight came out, I actually had it in the frame of
reference of being soul/funk and not just being some new goofy trend.
