Afternoon laydeez and genulmen. I'm posting this because I know there's a number of Murphy/Bauhaus fans on the list.
?
I picked up Murphy latest album this morning. I'm a bit iffy on solo Murphy- there are great tracks on the first four albums, but his most recent works?have failed to impress me. However, Ninth is rather good. Exceptionally good, actually. For a start, it's better than the?reformed Bauhaus album (which I also liked).?It's also one of his best solo albums. There are moments that aren't quite as good ('Peace to Each' is a little too close to a Velvet Revolver song), but most of it's great and the best tracks are *really* good. Like 'Seesaw Sway':

Worth checking out, at least.

After several lack-luster albums, Ninth is approaching becoming a PM classic for me. It's already my fourth favorite one, and is beginning to surpass Should The World Fail To Fall Apart.
Also, STWFTFA has been re-issued in the UK on Cherry Red with a bonus disc of singles and rarities. The second CD has most of the tracks that comprised the ultra-rare Composition disc, along with outtakes and a Bowie cover.

If you have written off Peter Murphy in the past, you should really check him out again. He's in fine form with this new album.

Yes, this sounded pretty good compared to the snooze-fest I seem to remember from him in the past!

+++++++++++

Murphy's been touring very small clubs and even coffee houses in the US this year and is coming back for another round of shows in
November and December playing theater-sized venues. He mixes up the set a bit every night and has been performing a couple Bauhaus
tunes like Silent Hedges and Stigmata Martyr. I'm not too enamored of his current live band o' scrubs though:

For me it's his best album since Cascade. I'm a big Peter Murphy fan but rarely, if ever, listen to the last couple of albums. Glad to see a return to form.

He's playing some UK dates in October so looking forward to hearing the new material live after missing him the last time.

Just got an email from the official Killing Joke distribution list (which I
must have signed up to years ago and can't really remember ever receiving
anything from), re a youth mix of This World Hell.

Art-work and everything on the email looks top notch (in fact I love the
picture - love to know who did it). Wish they'd stick with this level of
promotion and quality.

This World Hell did zilch for me in its original form, I'm enjoying this so
far (quite Lycopedia-esque in fact, musically at least)
