The Fall. Were an amazing band, saw them more than 50 times,  between 1985-2005, including Luciani play & Oranj ballet.  So many amazing experiences, including being in the pub with the band, speaking occasionally etc.  Because of this the present day band really does not do a lot for me, as is like MES with added anonymous musicians.  Not impressed with the last LP, Clutter, preferred the previous to that with amazing track 50 Year Old Man, I've Been Duped etc.  Very much up & down these days, Real New Fall LP was superb as well, Fall Heads Roll mostly.  2007LP very weak.  Just hoping this new one may hit the mark again, although review in The Wire hinted that may dissapoint yet again.

The Fall are one of the very best bands in the world. You take your chances live, however; they're either magnificent or appalling.

Their recent song "Blindness" is utterly masterpiecely.

They generally tend to play a couple of songs from the A-Sides, unless MES is in a particularly contrary mood.

I took part in a whale rescue when I was 11 or 12, 120 pilot whales beached
in Maungonui (was up there the other day).only lost 3, which made it the
most successful whale rescue recorded, at the time. Very little thanks to
me, but was a pretty cool experience.

dolphins can be intimidating fuckers! i was surfing once and surrounded by
them, swam around within touching distance and realised 'they could kill me
if they wanted'. powerful creatures. they were just on their own buzz,
feeding.. others times they have been quite playful..

we scored a whale rib at work today, prob about 4m long!

Here here, magnificent band.  They never play old stuff live, saw them
earlier in the year and got Spoilt Victorian Child, but mostly it was the
last three albums.  Your Future Our Clutter was good, the one before Post
Reformation was patchy but Fall Heads Roll  is a masterpiece and one of
their best.  Isn't there a new one shortly?

That would turn your record collection into State's evidence!? The U.S. authorities might then want to swap your extradition to U.K. for Julian Assange's to the U.S.

I will use this in my defence:
http://www.discogs.com/Autechre-Anti-EP/release/158

"Warning. Lost and Djarum contain repetitive beats.
We advise you not to play these tracks if the Criminal Justice Bill becomes law.
Flutter has been programmed in such a way that no bars contain identical beats and can therefore be played at both forty five and thirty three revolutions under the proposed new law. However we advise DJs to have a lawyer and musicologist present at all times to confirm the non repetitive nature of the music in the event of police harrassment.
Important.
By breaking this seal, you accept full responsibilty for any consequential action resulting from the product's use, as playing the music contained within these recordings may be interpreted as oppostion to the Criminal Justice and Public Order Bill.
On the back of the sticker is a declaration that 'all profits from this release will be donated to Liberty'. A brief history and mission statement for Liberty (The National Council for Civil Liberties) is also given, followed by contact details. This ends with a statement stating that 'Autechre is politically non-aligned. This is about personal freedom'.
