I used to be on loads of email lists like this one (mostly Yahoo lists),
back in the late 90s/early 00s. But they all ended up dying a slow
death thanks to PHP driven web message boards. This is the only one
that's survived in the old school format and that's one reason I like
it. I like the message board format too, but the advantage of this is
that I can read the posts at work. And threads on all forums go off on
tangents, not just this one.
