[kj] Hey, what say we talk about Killing Joke: Houston, TX FreePress Fest: still cancelled but funny story...

Seriously. I saw the aforementioned TMBG at a theatre in St. Louis c. 1994 and was very careful to stand off the floor so the kids could have their fun. Inevitably, however, multiple "pits" began to form at arbitrary locations throughout the hall, well away from the floor and including outside the bathrooms. I especially enjoyed the unwashed, sweaty jackass who would simply fling himself without notice into a group of people under the guise of "starting a pit, man."

Nice to see that hipster asshattery has remained constant through the years.

True that. I remember seeing the Violent Femmes in the mid=90s (a largely acoustic act, it should be remembered) and kids were "moshing." Sad.

Ayup. My memories of the early 90's are somewhat obscured by the mists of time. I seem to recall being at the show, but it might have been Cocteau Twins and They Might Be Giants. Or the Violent Femmes. Everybody moshed to everything back then, so its hard to remember...

"Kind of like Public Enemy and Sisters of Mercy together at Lollapalooze back in the early 90's"

Not to be pedantic, but that wasn't Lollapalooza -- it was its own tour (filled out by Gang of Four, Warrior Soul and the Young Black Teenagers). I saw it at Radio City here in NYC and it was awesome.

Apparently KJ were scheduled to perform in a parking lot at 3:40 in the afternoon immediately after Junior Brown.

I actually enjoy Junior Brown, but not before Killing Joke. I suspect they dodged a bullet there.

Kind of like Public Enemy and Sisters of Mercy together at Lollapalooze back in the early 90's
