There's plenty of "illnesses" that wouldn't require immediate surgery or hospitalization that could prohibit someone from doing a
group of shows  or a tour, especially when it comes to traversing the country in a tour bus like the band has been doing for
decades.  Wasn't a European tour cancelled in '06 due to Jaz or Geordie being "sick?" 

It's rare that I say a band "owes" their fans an immediate, honest explanation but in this case, especially considering their long
history of postponements and cancelations, an official announcement as to what happened is owed to the remaining loyal fans, not
some vague Twitter posts from the temp drummer and keyboard player.
