[kj] European Superstate Video on post-production

I don't think Killing Joke as a going concern makes enough money to be more
than a side project to the wealthier two these days.

Whether it doesn't make much because the record company is naff, or the
record company can't get fuck all done because decisions are made based on
goat entrails / phases of the planets / temper tantrums.or both.

Or possibly because budgets are kept low enough to actually make a profit on
very limited album / ticket / release same product 5 times / sales to uber
fans.

Just talking money, not merit.

What astonishes me is this:

The recent visuals for Killing Joke have been plain old naff. I'm really
surprised that (a) the band don't have sufficient pride in the overall
offering to want something better; and (b) they don't have sufficient clout
with their record company to insist on something better.

And given that there is a tried and tested option available...

Would people have originally picked up on KJ, had it not been for Mr Coles
artwork?

Looking at the Vertical Smile LP box, it just brings a smile (no pun
intended...) to
your face. Yes it was a high price for an album but then it was a work of
art, not just
a record, and that's how it would feel if Colesy was in charge of all things
KJ, at least
as far as 'art' was concerned. But I asked him if he would try and do a new
KJ
release on Malicious Damage and the look on his face - well, I think it is
best
described as 'life is too short'.

Involving Mike Coles in their video productions would have been the right
move, still would be!. Sadly it seems this is not going to happen.

Although I actually like the ESS animation, in general, I have never been
that impressed by their videos.
Some of their artwork however, has been brilliant...and I think the band
should be forever indebted to Mike Coles.

"A New Day" had its silly moments, but I still like it.

They do have a rather patchy record on video though (Geordie as a smurf
anyone?)

What would you consider to be their best?

"it seems this will be the best KJ video ever"
This is quite assuredly not the case.
