[kj] Best Gig (after 91)

Greetings men, women & mice,

June 92 Murder Inc Subteranea

Amazing gig, was not entirely convinced by LP before this, but whole experience was incredible.  Helped by fact that hot summer day & also a very sexy girl in the queue/audience!!  Superb performance, was incredible to see the dbl drummer line up par excellence. Needless to say plenty of bouncing.

Feb 1995 Watford Colosseum

A very unusual venue, very near to my home. Sadly no longer mine.  Again superb gig, cheers to the girl from Beaconsfield or was it Berkhamsted.  I hope u are still thriving.

Feb 1995 Shepherds Bush Empire

An improvement on Watford, fortunately I was not to know that last time would see the Joke until Aug 2003!! Although I think was at this one that Jaz responded to my shouted request!

Jun 2000 Damage Manual Astoria 2

Another legendary performance, although unlike Murder Inc not sure if would make top 10 all gigs of all-time.  Again superb atmosphere & interesting support in Raging Speedhorn.

Aug 2003 Camden Underworld

At last!!!  Was in a state of ecstasy at this gig due to reasons above.  Did not dissapoint & superbly intimate!

Oct 2003 Astoria x 2

Just the same in  larger but decent venue.

Oct 2005 Astoria

Another classic performance, making up for missing the filming earlier in year, see below.  Sadly was to be last time to see Raven in action.  R.I.P.

Oct 2008 Forum x 2

Wonderful to hear all those old songs again & certainly joined in the action.  Second night sounded as though had been fired up by  nuclear thrust!!  Excellent Coles visuals as well.

Sept 2010 The Fleece Bristol

Fortunately was suffering from alcohol poisoining from Ignorant gig the night before, so uniquely 100% clarity!!  Superb again, I think this was before LP release so all tracks very fresh.  Also by coincidence now living near Mr Simpsons gtr shop so thanks to him too for all the  info!!  This gig has produced  a problem though, after that Bristol seems rather dull!!

NB. Also big dissapointments associated with live Joke. As said before totally gutted when 1996 tour cancelled as was seeing them in Oxford & London. And as said had bad effect on other gigs, when poor performances occurred as often with The Fall was longing for the AWOLS!! Due to very unfortunate circumstances missed the filming at
S Bush in 2005 & also missed Barfly & Zodiac gigs around that time due to finances so almost as bad.

Forthcoming tour! Really excited about new tour but why announced so early! We may not be here by then!!  Also what chance of it all being cancelled/postponed!!  Gives them an impossible target to get the LP ready by as well, hahahh!  Would love to see them in Exeter but prob not as Bristol is now homebase & cannot do both.  As said Academy will be shit after Fleece though!!  Have my tkt for London, good venue & when saw Foxx there security was non existent so bring yer bottles!  Also aiming for Oxford, will be ambition fulfilled from 1996.  See u there boys & girls!!  Over & Out!!

LOL. I have absolutely no recollection of putting that on my site, but yes there's a strong chance it came from one of the scans you emailed me.

I enjoyed your gig memories, Antoni. So jealous! Man, Hammersmith Feb. 82. If I could pick one to go back in time to it'd be that without hesitation.

He's actually?the founding member, capo di tutti capi sort of a thing, if articles in ye olde Irrational Domain site that say BPF thought of the band and then soon found Jaz (in a dole line, or a dustbin??) are to be believed (and I do).

I'll guess that instead of just being prissy or pettily selfish, that he's figured out the opportunity cost of running away to "join the Killing Joke Circus" and needs proper compensation and accomodations. All the more if he's married, making him the ONLY married KJoker with additional needs.

And again..way to treat a founding member, if true...

It's a comparison I'm sure everyone will be uncomfortable with, but after all that talk about the reunion of the original four, the concept of BPF not being asked back smacks of something Gene Simmons would do.
