I'm a big Gang Of Four fan and had similar reservations about the new line up
for exactly the same reasons. However after seeing the new line up last years I
can honestly say I'm very happy with the new rhythm section. Thomas McNiece
especially has added a new dimension to the old songs with his bass playing
addding more of a slightly funky edge to the sound. I've yet to digest the new
songs and I'd expect that to be the acid test. I'm currently dealing with the
death of my dad at weekend so the new CD will have to wait until I get my head
back in one piece - which may take some time.

Thinking about it I can see comparisons with KJ regarding the change of rhythm
section.

Brian.

PS I'm not sure "funky" was he word I was looking for but I can't for the life
of me think of a more appropriate one.

They're playing here again in about a month. I'm always game for new G04, but in
the wake of their original--lineup reformation a few years back (which resulted
in a truly incendiary performance here in NYC), I'm not sure I can go back to
Andy, Jon & .....two other dudes. Has anyone heard/seen the current line-up?
