Have to say, my cassette of Big Country in 1988 was a good friend, and gave me a great time to listen to on my own. Harvest home was a triumphant anthem.

The Skids were genius. Perfect.

I have nothing against Big Country, but I did see them once and I barely remember the show--nothing wrong w/it, just not very exciting. I also remember owning their 2nd album, I think,
Steeltown, and remember it being very very close to unlistenable (sophomore slump?). That being said, I would think about seeing them if they play the US (just for kicks--how often do you
get to hear guitars that sound like babpipes)??

Fuck off you ignorant prick!

If anyone else is mean about Big Country I'll shove a bagpipe so far up their arse they'll be able to play it themselves.

They had a number one album, worked with Kate Bush and shared a stage with KJ. At a time when it was all synths and haircuts they wrote real music about working-class themes and played it on real instruments.

Plus two of them were English.

Don't speak ill of the dead muthafucka. How would you like it if you were on another list and every time KJ were mentioned someone said how shit they were and what a cunt Raven was?

Here I go again!! Wow, I remember Big Country, of course, from my formative years, TOTP, J Peel, Zigzag etc etc. They were shite!! Utter shite!! Again in my own opinion. I also recall getting quite aggressive in my virulent dislike of them when I was 18 & I was relatively calm then!! Please talk about better music!

As for M Atkins, well whatever people think of him I have utmost respect for his drumming!! He added that extra explosion to Extremities & all Murder Inc, Damage Manual recordings are superb of course as well as some Pigface. There we go!
