Is Wire a closer comparison? A lot of the stuff they played in the
first half of the '00s was fast and rhythmically taut. However the
riffs aren't nearly as intricate as what Geordie does, so I am not
sure that's fair either. Mission of Burma?
Gilmour's late Pink Floyd and Roger Waters played big shows in large
venues through top sound systems. They are perfectionists with a ton
of money. I expect Gilmour re-recorded guitar solos just because he
didn't feel like he made the right kind of wincey face, even when it
wasn't a video. If anything, the major limitation for them is the
acoustics of a big stadium and viewing distance for the visuals.
