[kj] April Fools - Royal Festival Hall?

Saw Nick Cave there, had a fight with a "Security Guard" who threatened my then wife. Was given complementary tickets by the manager by way of compensation and instead of going to see the Stranglers like I wanted, she insisted we went to watch Swan Lake. Groan! I ended up getting one of the bar girls to open one of the bars and sat drinking large vodka and tonics with her for the whole of the second half. My marriage broke down soon after that.

Also saw Siouxsie Sioux there which was amazing but that's because I'm in love with her and she can do no wrong.

Saw Paul Weller there last year and, much as I found the gig to be pretty dull (my girlfriend is a massive Paul Weller fan), I have to say that the sound was reasonable.

Guess I'll go if nothing else to catch up with a few mates, eat some decent Chinese food and have a night out in the Smoke.

Chris

Hmm, yeah, thinking about it, my only experience of this place was Motorhead at Meltdown in 2008 I think?
Bought (what I thought would be) great seats on a balcony right near one side of the stage. When the gig
started the sound was truly atrocious, just white noise more or less. I went to move into the front middle
and of course was stopped by a jobsworth, except it turned out everyone on the balcony had had the same
idea as me so there were too many people to stop. The sound in the middle of the hall was actually
fine, so it turned out to be a good gig, but we were constantly hassled by South Bank folk
desperately trying to get us to go back to our seats/sit down etc. But the sound was massively variable
depending on where you stood/sat. Not a good omen for a KJ gig.

The Royal Festival Hall is actually one of the worst places to see a gig! So far have seen The Stooges, Roky Erickson and Magazine there and each time it was just the wrong type of venue for them. Crap seating, dancing frowned upon, bad sound, more tossers than normal... it's just no use for these kind of gigs. God knows why they've chosen this place...

A Killing Joke gig on April 1 for which there seems to be little information, let alone confirmation?

I am incredibly, stupidly tempted to book plane tickets!

No, they didn't know how much the tickets would cost. The £27.50 is to
become a RFH "member" for a year and therefore be able to buy on the 7th.

The RFH box office has just told me that tickets for the 1st April Killing
Joke concert go on sale on 7th February for members (£27.50 per year) and
8th February for plebs. Tickets available for both the individual gig and a
day pass for all the other Ether nonsense. Box office 0844 875 0073.

Yes but he also said to me that he was doing London beginning of April and
it has been mentioned in a few interviews.

Bristol ? Notting Hill ?
I am under the impression that those dates that Adrian posted were purely to
wind Jonnny boy up , had me all excited for a few moments.
