[kj] ESS

I'm definitely in the loving Endgame camp.  It's one of my favorites on the
album at the moment.  Love the rhythm.  It's not a toe tapper, it's a full on
LEG STOMPER!!  Love the lyrics, love the chorus, brilliant but simple chord
changes.  The weird rhythmic one note chugs towards the end when Jaz
is screaming "ENDGAME" are vital.  I also love the scratch down the strings of
Geordie's guitar as they swoop back into the verse!!  Builds the tension
perfectly!  It scrapes down my spinal cord like the fingernails of a demented
school principal on the tabula rasa chalkboard of my soul...  HA!

I dig some Motorhead but they have NEVER come up with anything as EPIC and
ANTHEMIC as Endgame...

Never heard any keyboards on ANY of Motorhead tracks? I even toured with them
back in 80’s, not a keyboard/synth in sight. C’ant see the comparison myself,
ESS is their LLB dance floor/radio friendly number in my book

Neil's spot-on with the Motorhead comparison (see also huge swathes of HOSANNAS
and a fistful of tracks on 2003). I happen to love Motorhead, but let's let
Motorhead be Motorhead.

Jaz just sounds like Lemmy on Endgame. And that metal chugging is
just the sort of thing you'll find on any Motorhead album from the last decade.

Firedances and Wilful Days... I wish!

I hear a lot of Firedances references and a large dollop of Wilful Days but
Motorhead?

Because it is by far the worst song on the album, and the worst song Killing
Joke
have turned out in a long time.

I was playing it the other day and my girlfriend asked 'Is this Motorhead?'

And she's right... it does sound like Motorhead. And we already have
a Motorhead. This sounds like bad Motorhead.
