[kj] So new album..where does it stand

Yes, WOrld Hell is probably the only real dud on the album. I think Honour the Fire, Singularity, Great Cull, Raven King, and the title track are all future classics.

I think This "World Hell" is terrible! It is a bit repetitive and far too long., They better not do that on the tour for it is real weak song.

Dig most of the album otherwise.

"The Raven King" after listening to it brought tears to me and my wife's eyes. The lyrics are deep and the song grows more and more on you listening to it a few times.

I like "Depthcharge," but it did seem a bit reminiscent of, say, "Asteroid." Not a bad thing, but no ground broken.

Here's a bold thread. Least favorite song on new album?

I'll say "Honour the Fire."

My take on the album (listened to on crappy computer):
Great, except for--
This World Hell & Depthcharge: kind of dull (mostly tuneless metal sludge)
Ghost of L.G.--quite dull (not as good as "Another Cult Goes Down" in terms of Joke-reggae)

Has anyone else got rather emotional listening to The Raven King? Unexpectedly so?

I will be buying this.

I’ll agree with that 100%.

One thing I meant to say and forgot is that even the song In Excelcis, which I wasn't crazy about upon listening to it in the single, fits and works perfectly in the context of the album...

And, again, Big Paul puts Dave Grohl's drumming on 2003 to shame...

These are happy days for us KJ fans (provided you didn't buy tickets to some of their gigs). :)

Life is like a movie,if you've sat through more than half of it and its sucked every second so far,it probably isn't gonna get great right at the end and make it all worthwhile.
No one should blame you for walking out early.

Agreed, it is a bloody great album! Fave tracks at the moment are ESS and The Great Cull. And Endgame. The Raven King is quite moving, as expected. Needs a few more listens before I can rank it with the others.

Only got to play it twice through last night: I rushed home, fired up the laptop, and was about to press play when “the missus” came home from work and wanted to talk about her day. Women – they can be so selfish. ;-)

Cheers,
Janean

I think it mostly sits in with 2003 personally. It's got an uptempo vibe - nowehere near as dark as Hosannas.

But I can definitely see the pre-first album influences there, mainlu the guitar, as well as a couple of Night Time and even BTATS references (The Raven King reminds me a bit of Sanity).

Don't see much in the way of Revelations/Fire Dances in there. The drums are not very tribal.

But it's a great album - really enjoying the melody in there and the fact that Jaz sings on some of the tracks!

Good work fellas!

Early days but for those who've downloaded it, what do you reckon it harks back to??
