[kj] ABSOLUTE v HOSANNAS v 2003

Read some comments on you tube about Absolute Dissent/ Fresh Fever. One remembers a sense of feeling something like exhilaration and terror on listening to Empire Song way back then. Some of 2003 was very good but Hosannas is quite underwhelming. Some of the new stuff seems to borrow from some of the old riffs but they are the ones that have been done to death. They lack the dramatic structure of Revelations and Extremities for example.

Wake me when someone comes up with an argument that there's anything
they've done since 1994 that can compare to Communion or Labyrinth.
Okay, Universe B perhaps...but that doesn't count cos it wasn't on an
album for some obscure reason.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, both of those songs are essentially
filler, so I doubt we're going to be able to reach a consensus.
Still, hopes are high for the rest of AD.

Yes, it worked. Thank you very much, Mr Moss. And Jon for posting the link.
Still not made up my mind about this new stuff. Sounds like the chemistry is
working, the balance of the different elements of the band restored with the
return of Big Paul. But maybe that's all and they've mistaken that for the
greatest album of all time.
