ESS is a fascinating, yet quite peculiar, affair.

If this, lifted from Wikipedia has any truth to it:

he will be commissioned to write music for special occasions"

Then I expect Jaz initially drafted the lyrics while musing in this
capacity, then later redrafted it with a perverse twist more suitable
for a KJ album.
