The Slits (along w/the Clash) were probably the 1st band in the world to combine punk and reggae (in both
attitude, dress, and music). They were also the 1st female punk band. They truly represented the spirit of punk--
DIY, don't worry about popularity, have fun, challenge the status quo, be individuals etc etc.
