also in the same edition is a 4 star review of The Orb feat. David Gilmour record Metallic Spheres - not reproducing it here but it has convinced me to buy it!

sorry, I can't reproduce it....oh fuck it, is a quiet Sat arvo anyway.......

'Jaz Coleman's crew (!), rarely absent from duty, perma-influential via grunge, industrial and thrash/death/black metal have doled outsome mighty records in latter years, including 1994's trance-tinged Pandemonium, and 2003's Killing Joke, which boasted pre-Vulture guest sticksman Dave Grohl. Finally reunited with lengthiest deserter 'Big' Paul Ferguson (drums), plus Youth on bass, this gnarly, apocalyptic, uniquely relevant combo deliver their late-period masterpiece. Far from a cheery re-invocation of Ferguson-era post-punkage, Absolute Dissent ploughs on triumphantly into that murky, tribal, empire-busting KJ netherworld. On This World Hell, Geordie achieves sufficient riff-chunkiness to decapitate even a Slayer nut, while European Super State could have a field full of ex-Eastern Bloc ravers waving glow-sticks with abandon. The sound, throughout, is immense, infernal, but anthemic. From the title track's monolithic defiance down, this one's an out-of-the-blue anti-establishment classic'
