Merci, Frenchy, for this! I love the comments by Paul (?). "Fucking hot," indeed.
It sounds promising. Now, if only they will have art work worthy of what could be a fantastic album -- and tour!

Cheers,

Karen

Hi All,

In fact (except for Rob Moss who doesn't deserve it) here is the summary of the night in Geneva.
Arrived around 20:00 at the Usine's venue where the Moloko's bar stand on the 1st floor ( that is where they played in 2003 and where we had the after-party for Raven's funeral) i was very friendly welcomed (as always) by Jaz and maybe 10/12 of his swiss friends (one of his daughters lives in geneva too but wasn't here)

How could i describe the Moloko ?
In the land of conformism, authority and order it's an island of liberty and contestation.
As for an example, the law against smoking in public areas was voted sometimes ago but at the Moloko you can still smoke and not only official cigarettes would I say ha ha ha !!!

It's a very cool place where a section was reserved for us for having dinner prepared by the local cooker.

Of course Jaz was like always : very prolific for speaking

First of all : The US Tour is postponed till december (normally) but Jaz really hates touring there except fo3/4 dates like in 2008
I told him that many gatherers were expecting to see them in more cities but...

Concerning the idea of playing Nighttime entirely : complete rumours ;o)))) sorry for Alex (I would have loved too but)

We spoke about John Hicklenton ( who died recently) and who was filmed during his death having a phone conversation with Jaz who was filmed too;

Big Paul did 3 differents artwork for the cover but apparently nothing has been decided yet.

Concerning the tracks list, here is the one written by Jaz
see here :
http://rcpt.yousendit.com/845264211/ffa45b5e1efa984160b19b8428ce4005

The 11 tracks who should be on the album are written on the left side and
The plan is to release 2 EPs exclusively on vinyl before the album : it concerns the tracks on the right side

You will discover Jaz comments by yourself ;o))

Then was the time for the listening of the coming album using the powerful soundsystem of the bar.
Jaz asked me to introduce him to the audience in french as the Head Master of the Gathering (if i remember well ha ha ha ) but I just said modestly at the microphone to be one of the members of the Gathering (Rob Moss would have surely said the Maestro of The Gathering ;o))) and then he did a little speech explaining his attachment to Swiss because of his daughter and when they played in 83 in a Famous Squat on Rue Argand (and Jaz told that some of the footages with torches used this night were briefly) used for the Eighties video)

So the sound came out the speakers for more than 1 hour for your own pleasure
It's very difficult to describe music but I would I was completely and happily surprised with the quality of sound and Jaz's voice who really sing on this album (and shouts too like on Endgame)
My fav ones are
Absolut Dissent with the incredible rhythm and break including the extra basslines and flow of the drums
Raven King for the melody
European Superstate : certainly a major hit in clubs if it's released as a single : completely different of what they have done before : Disco/Grace Jones and The Sparks meet Killing Joke : some will hate and some will adore (i hope so ;o)) THE catchy tune of all the tracks
Here Comes The Singularity : terrific, powerful, melodic and extra guitar riffs: a speedy one

The better thing is to wait till the release in september to enjoy the modern touch they have had to their "typical music" and I was appreciating the heavy work they did on vocals and chords comparing to the instrumental versions I had heard at The Brittania Row Studios in november.

Then it was time for a cheese party with red wine to celebrate the moment till 2 O'Clock.
Marie Lecocq (the belgium translator of Jaz's book was with us too) and when we left the venue Jaz had to give her some cash so we had to find a cash machine ;o))
I said to jaz : do you think we will find a cash machine in geneva the city of Banks ? we laughed a lot but it took around 30 mins to find one : Holy s**** !!!

As i did it in my car with Geordie in 2006, i thought it would be a good idea to listen to the covers i had on my Ipod from KJ's tracks beginning with Sybreed (a swiss group ) or Zü etc ... He loved them !!!
Jaz was really happily surprised and didn't even know 50 % of them except the famous ones Metallica Foo Fighters
He told about a russian group who did a cover of Wintergardens.

Then we said goodbye till next time in Paris for his ceremony on the monday 19th april 2010.

Excellent sounds keep on rocking in my head.
Really looking forward the new album and the coming tour ;o))
