I would bet the es 295 is a real Gibson reissue.one or two of the les pauls
I saw on the china site are real. But those GR series gretschs are about as
far from gretschs as you can get and still be in the orange hollowbody with
bigsby range.

 

But If I were wrong and the es 295 is not a real Gibson reissue, and is a
fake, then I'll take two or more!!! they are way closer than legal epiphone
copies.

You're right I was being facetious and no I can't tell from the pictures if
these are  of real Gibsons or not. I would still bet that these are rebadged
epiphonies or at least made in the same factory during a "ghost run". The
ones I find interesting are the ones for where there is no Epiphone
equivalent like the rickenbackers or the John Lennon Gibson junior. Here's a
thought experiment for you...what if these are the equivalent of an Epiphone
or a Squier? What if they are good quality reproductions...what do Gibson
do?

That would be fine if it's repackaged Epiphones but they aren't, those are
Gibson headstocks with made in the USA stamps and those are lacquer
finishes. and in looking at most of the les pauls on that site - they are
one piece mahogany necks and bodies. The raw wood alone costs more than the
finished guitars to the maker.

Well, of course it's a scam if you think you're getting a Made in the USA
Gibson...but if you think you're getting a rebadged Epiphone for $400 then
it could be a bargain. Of course there would be import taxes and I wouldn't
like to return one because of a warped neck.
