Dont know yet. Our jobs are going but they are creating new posts for
people to compete for. I will have to compete with my colleague (whos also
my best friends husband) for one new post. Theres enough work for us both
to be busy full time, but they dont see it like that of course. It doesnt
matter for the man who made that decision because hes on £75k and can sleep
pretty soundly at night.
Wankers.
Sorry for the OT moaning!

Were losing 10% of our college admin staff (including my job, I was told
today). However we now have 3 Vice Principals (we had none last year) and
they are employing new Assistant Directors at an alarming rate we
currently have 9 with two further definite posts on the way. £1m of the
government funding (tax payers money!) our college receives is being sucked
out by 15 people.
Pissed off,
Janean
PS: Good job I didnt arrange to travel to see the Joke.

The US is stuffed. An economy that cant add jobs despite 0% interest rates
(and yes I know employment is a lagging indicator), real unemployment closer
to 20% than the reported 9.7%, (www.shadowstats.com), under utilisation of
production capital because people cant afford the constant cycle of new
knick knacks (and realise they dont need most of it)...California bankrupt
but not legally allowed to declare it, many other states in a similar boat.
Tax revenues down, two wars overseas plus all the US military bases to
maintain. Property prices still falling. The middle class disappearing at
the expense of the rich.

They say the bank bailout was necessary to avoid all the social unrest etc,
but all its done is perpetuate the same problems in the system.

Good points. People have said that what we're seeing now is the biggest
transfer of wealth from the working class to the rich in history.

Nice linkage :)
"In the midst of this paralysis, the President was asked about the giant pay
packages of Jamie Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan Chase & Co. ($17 mullion for 2009)
and Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman Sachs ($9 million). "First of all, I
know both those guys," Obama said. "They're very savvy businessmen. And I,
like most of the American people, don't begrudge people success or wealth.
That's part of the free market system."
Free market system? As I remember it, American taxpayers forked out hundreds
of billions to keep JPMorgan, Goldman, and other big Wall Street banks
afloat through most of 2009. Had we not done so, Dimon, Blankfein, and most
other top executives on Wall Street would not have earned a dime last year.
In fact, some would be out on the street, reather than sitting pretty on the
Street."
Can I have a refund? People really do have short memories...or are just too
dumb to know what actually happened...

Okay, so there was once a rich guy* who stole from and otherwise managed to
financially break most everyone in the village. When the mayor was asked
what he thought about that, the mayor answers thus, "Yeah; hey, firstly, I
know the guy - and he is smart; shrewd. I am sure the villagers will not
begrudge him his money that he makes; I know I don't. I mean, c'mon, it's
'bizniss.' Wass'amattuh wi' you?" (2nd
