Normally in the past until the record industry collapsed, a band needed a record label to provide up-front money to pay for the
recording of an album(s), distribute the record and finance and promote a tour. Most artists (especially older ones who've been
around for a few decades and are set in their ways) to this day aren't the all-encompassing media and business savvy wizards some
guys like Trent Reznor or Prince are who can understand all aspects of the music industry to the point they can build and manage
their own team and be viable artists. That takes a lot of energy, knowledge, talent *and* financial resources.

In 2010, there's still a overwhelming number of artists who simply cannot do all this themselves for a whole number of the above
reasons- Killing Joke obviously among them thus the reason for the continued existence of rinky-dink record labels like Spine Farm.
