[kj] The Courtauld Talks

The recording does not come close to capturing the strange, unhinged atmosphere that was in the room that day. To go from a bustling Oxford Street on a breezy September Saturday into that claustrophobic, darkened well of intensity was one of the oddest experiences I've ever had. "If you interrupt Mr Coleman we cannot guarantee your safety".

The one thing I took away from TCT is that in general, humanity studies matter(noun) so much, but doesn't study forces enough (and, i think, by extension, also relationships between objects.).

Goerdie's little riff is almost too cartoonish to not laugh along with, and what was that one bizarre, absract-ish musical riff Jaz plays at one point? and did that piece end up in any kJ songs?

It'd be nice if there was any hint of evidence for any of it or
justification for believing it. Alternative prehistory based on erosion
patterns on the sphinx, submerged monolithic structures etc I can take an
interest in, but the older I get the more sceptical I get about whacky shit
with no evidence behind it, and people who come up with all sorts of
reverse-engineered reasons for believing stuff.

I finally picked up the last remaining Killing Joke-related release I had
yet to hear today. Found the cd used for $4.99 during my monthly trip to
Hollywood's Amoeba Records (also to check out the ticket situation for the
Radiohead show at the Music Box theater - passed on that show).

Not as awful as I've often heard it was, kinda funny listening to Jaz's
sometimes bizarre but never dull opinions on the drive back home on the
freeway. Still, Geordie playing the same repetitious acoustic guitar riff
for nearly an hour grows old fast and Jaz ending the "lecture" with the
prescient "everything is tied up on our forthcoming album Outside The
Gate......." Yikes.
